The following requirements were used to guide the development: technologies should improve feel, increase distance, and counteract poor strikes, a cavity back iron to lower C.G and optimise M.O.I, use front mould half of current iron to limit cost, retain iron top-line for appeal at address, reduce negative gapping effects between clubs
Technology concepts were created to address the requirements of the iron. These were primarily focused on blending feel with distance according to the relevant club length
These ideas were explored further and refined into a realistic yet compelling club headshape. The geometry is designed to allocate mass around the club head to aid launch trajectory and shot workability
Many design concepts were generated for the driver head; these were centred on increasing recoil speed across the face to improve distance on off centre strikes. Focus was also placed on positioning the centre of gravity to optimise ball flight
Once the headshape was finalised, the medallion was designed in accordance with aesthetic requirements. This was balanced with refining the position of the polymer element to most improve feel
Detailed artworks were produced prior to first sampling, these further refined the; form, CMF, and graphic applications
The final design used a polymer insert to increase feel and progressive toe weighting to optimise workability. The sole geometry and undercut cavity aid turf interaction whilst easing ball flight
The design features were extrapolated across the range set. This used technical weighting and face flex technology to add distance and feel for the better player.
